Note: Professional fees cover the following activities:
Technical discussions, literature and library research, planning,
proposal preparation, testing, experimentation, data collection, microscopy,
report writing, calculations, and theoretical analysis.

Travel and Waiting Time:
Charged at 2/3 of the hourly rate for the work at hand
when the circumstances of the assignment prevent us
from making other use of our time;
this applies to legal appearances as well.

Standard Charges:

Subcontracted Services:
Quality Related services are billed at cost plus 20 % to cover our accountability
and to cover the cost of maintaining regular auditsof our subcontractor's quality assurance programs.
Common Subcontracted Services are billed at cost plus 10%.

Travel Costs, Materials, and Supplies:
Except for metallographic specimen preparation, where all normal consumable supplies
are included in the hourly rate, all other project-related expenses are billed at cost.

Photographs and Negatives:
We customarily make one, Type 400 Polaroid print for each photographic figure, at $4.50; if a second print is desired, we can make and a Type 55 P/N Polaroid print & negative for an additional $5.50. For extra copies of the photographs requested after completion of the report, there is a $50 set-up charge, plus $5 per print. For extra copies requested at the beginning of the project, there is no set-up charge.

Report format:
We use Microsoft Word 97 for most professional reports;
and we include digitally reproduced figures
made with a digital camera from the original Polaroid prints.

Report delivery:
Our reports can be E-mailed (if less than five megabytes),
delivered on compact disk (CD-R),
or printed in color with an inkjet printer.

Express Charges:
We ship reports having more than $50 worth of photographs by Federal Express;
our invoices reflect our best estimate of the Fedex charges at the time of the invoice, at cost.

Priority, Emergency Service:
In certain instances, pre-approved by the client,
a priority (rush basis) premium above the standard rates may be charged.
This includes weekends and holidays.

Terms of Payment:
Due upon receipt of invoice.
